Onto week 2!

IMG_0029Its hard to believe we have been in Haiti for over 1 week. It still seems a little surreal. Scott & I started Creole lessons this week, which has been very challenging! We are blessed to have a very patient, christian instructor, Jean Claude. Our class is 2 hrs long every afternoon, and then we study anywhere from 1-3hrs. We have been practicing our new language skills with our house help, Madame Lorette, and Mamise. They are also patient with us and will correct our poor pronunciation and grammar. We have had many laughs. It has been hard for us to work so close to the ladies and not be able to communicate well. We are looking forward to the day when we can communicate and invest in their lives and their families lives.

Chloe & Gab are getting accustomed to their new school and teacher, Mrs.Ferris.  She is a very Godly women, and doesn’t hesitate to pray with them if they are struggling.  I’m thankful they are in the same classroom together. They have had quite a bit more homework than they were used to, which brings some complaints 🙂 They have really enjoyed being able to Skype or facetime family and friends, and it has helped with the homesickness. We are very thankful for modern technology!!

Bri is jumping right into life in Haiti. She learned to drive a 4-wheeler this week, which was a huge excitement for her. Her ankle continues to heal, and she is able to participate in more activities. She has a great attitude, and really likes it here.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support!

  1. So thankful for your posts! Praising God for his faithfulness in your life! I’m sure the language barrier is a huge challenge right now. Keep plugging away and you’ll get it. Glad to know school is going well for the girls. Love you!

  2. Looks like hard and serious study time. Probably a good thing you have a Bible sitting right there !

It is good to hear your girls are doing well ! !

  3. I LOVE getting your blogs. Thanks. And I’m so proud of myself that I’m able to get them. You know…………I’m not the most savvy person when it comes to this computer. I’m glad to hear that Bri is able to do the 4 wheeler. Glad her leg isn’t too bad, maybe. We will continue to keep you in our prayers.
