It is hard to believe we have been in Haiti for 3 months! It’s even harder for us to believe it is December. For the first time in our lives, we are listening to Christmas music with a warm breeze blowing through our house. Living in central Illinois my entire life, I associated Christmas with cold temps, snow, holiday decorations, shopping, spending time with family and friends, etc. Well, none of that is true for us this year, so my mind is having trouble believing it is December. This is not a bad thing, just different. Hopefully our family will take this opportunity to focus more on the true meaning of Christmas.
Here are a few highlights from this past week!
1. I taught our house help how to make REAL chocolate chip cookies from the recipe on the back of the Toll House chocolate chip bag! They were terrific! (Those of you who have been to Haiti can relate to the fact that typical Haitian cookies are usually not good! I will share that story in another post!!! It’s not really their fault, they don’t have the money for the ingredients to make cookies for themselves, and they don’t have chocolate chips either.) Anyway, it was a milestone for us!
2. This is a picture of the baby lizard Chloe found in her bed 2 days ago!

3. A slip n slide party Haitian style!

  1. Well, we have a breeze blowing here too but it is not a warm one. We think of you often so I am thankful you take the time to post your comments and photos so we can keep up with you. Hopefully the Roanoke work team will come together before the end of the year so we can begin making our travel plans. The team is not full yet, so let me know if you know of anyone interested . . .

  2. Water slide or scooping snow – its a no-brainer!! I love the water slide – there’s just nothing like good old home made fun!!! The lizard looks just like the ones that were running in & out of the house in Puerto Rico – thanks for the pix & posts!! Love to all!!!
